CATALINA ISLAND

Located 26 miles SSW of Newport Beach, the island town of Avalon features a picturesque harbor, narrow streets and hillside homes giving this idyllic seaside community a Mediterranean feel. Visitors can stroll along the waterfront from the ferry terminal at Cabrillo Mole to Descanso Beach just west of iconic Catalina Casino. Founded in 1905, Newport Beach Harbor is the largest recreational harbor on the West Coast. Located in Orange County, Newport Beach Harbor offers unparalleled access to boat accessible waterfront dining, luxury coastal home sightseeing. swimming and abundant marine life.

A short coastal cruise south along Crystal Cove State Park leads to pristine anchorage and swimming spots: Emerald Bay, Shaw’s Bay, Newport Coast Marine Yacht Charters. Or travel north past miles of endless beaches, and a series of landmark piers: Balboa, Newport and Huntington Beach and pull up to restaurant docks in Long Beach harbor. During the holidays Newport Beach harbor transforms itself into a pageant of waterfront lighting and hosts the largest Christmas Boat Parade in the United States.

A day trip from most Southern California marinas, San Diego harbor has it all!

Upon rounding Point Loma your greeted by the picturesque skyline of downtown San Diego. The harbor bustles with recreational, commercial, and naval maritime traffic. While entering the harbor you’ll likely see any number of naval aircraft, warships, submarines and large commercial vessels.

Cross under the majestic Coronado Bridge, dock at Glorietta Bay Marina and sip sundowners at the historical Hotel Del Coronado. Dock in downtown San Diego, take in a night on the city and stroll to dinner under the city lights. Reserve a guest slip on Shelter Island, dine at a waterfront restaurant or catch a concert at Humphreys by the Bay.

Located approximately 6 miles north of Los Angeles International Airport, MDR is one of the largest man-made recreational harbors on the West Coast. Whether it’s your destination or jumping off point to the Channel Islands, Santa Barbara or your next leg to Mexico; ample overnight guest slips, fuel, local waterfront dining, fuel and grocery stores makes MDR an ideal overnight layover.

Santa Barbara Harbor is one of the most picturesque harbors in Southern California. A short walk along the scenic waterfront to Stearns Wharf; built in 1872, it is California’s oldest working wooden wharf and offers spectacular views of the famous “American Riviera.” Dine on State Street, renowned for its shopping and nightlife, and home to several historic sites. Santa Barbara is an ideal departure marina for the Channel Islands 22 miles to the south or north to Monterey and San Francisco.

Southern California’s proximity to the Mexico border offers a unique opportunity to experience cruising to a foreign country. Only 60 miles from the border is Ensenada. With secure marinas, a tourist friendly downtown and burgeoning wine country, Ensenada is a great weekend round-trip. Ensenada is also the gateway harbor for the 800-mile trip south to Cabo San Lucas, La Paz and the Sea of Cortez. Experience life unplugged at 10kts while cruising down the pristine Baja coastline, fishing, whale watching, and relaxing while enjoying unforgettable sunsets and sunrises.
